Vineyard Tour Guide

Hambledon Vineyard is England’s oldest commercial vineyard having been founded in 1952. Hambledon is committed to producing outstanding sparkling wine from estate owned vineyards of around 200acres, planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. The gravity fed winery and cellars are situated in the pretty Hampshire village of Hambledon. A brand new restaurant and visitors centre is currently being built.

Hambledon runs wine tourism events throughout the year and the Vineyard & Winery Tour followed by a tasting are an important part of this offering. Hambledon are looking for Tour Guides to escort clients on tours and tastings at the vineyard and to host events. The role is part time and will involve a significant amount of weekend work, particularly in the high season.

The Role will involve:

Set up for tour and tasting including, but not limited to, tidying and cleaning the tasting and communal areas, stocking the wine fridge, unlocking cellars.

Delivering tours of the vineyard, winery and cellars and conduct tastings.

In good weather we like to use the vineyard for tastings and this involves carrying equipment to the vineyard.

Recording wine opened accurately on the stock sheet

Greet clients and check off against bookings system

General housekeeping – taking bottles to bottle bins, emptying rubbish, washing glasses.

Skills/Experience Required:

Confidence in speaking to large groups (20-30) and being able to adjust the stye of delivery to match the client’s requirements

Confidence in cash handling and operating POS systems is essential

Minimum of WSET Level 2 or equivalent experience

Familiar with Traditional Method winemaking is essential

Fluency in English; ability to conduct tours in another European Language would be advantageous
