Come and tell the stories of our students, staff and help showcase their work. We are looking for a creative digital and social media content creator, with experience of working for companies and brands, to look after the running of our day-to-day social channels and update our website.

What you will do

With 18 academic departments practising research-led teaching and an active student body, there is always a lot happening at Goldsmiths. Our social channels and website are vibrant with photos, videos and stories to engage with. We are looking for a Digital Content Officer to sit at the heart of our content team and help update these channels with creative, compelling stories that reflect the values of Goldsmiths.

On social media, we talk to the Goldsmiths family of staff, students, alumni, and people interested in what we do. Our social accounts are also important for student recruitment. On Instagram we talk to our students and our applicants ahead of joining. Twitter is where we post about the institution to a wider audience. TikTok is where potential students can see what it is like at Goldsmiths.

gold.ac.uk is where we join together what Goldsmiths does. This person will work with our Business Partners and the Digital Content Editor to update the website.

They’ll support our video team going out and talking to students about their experiences and creating engaging social stories and short videos.

Where the role sits

The role sits within our Communications, Marketing and Recruitment Directorate.

It is in our digital content team, which is separate from our student recruitment marketing and student success teams. Working with the Digital Content Editor (who manages this role) they’ll co-ordinate with teams across Goldsmiths to make content.

What the successful candidate needs

You’ll need at least a year or two of experience working on social media content for established companies or brands. You’ll know what makes good content for different platforms and will be up to date with the latest trends and changes to social media platforms. You’ll have experience monitoring day-to-day activity on social media channels including engaging with and responding to messages and enquiries. This isn’t a graduate role.

Being able to go out and find stories and people is important. You shouldn’t be afraid to go up to our (friendly) students and ask them to get involved.

Good copywriting is vital to this role. We want someone with lots of experience in quickly and accurately subbing content to make social posts with the right tone of voice.

Contract and working location

This is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, and expect the contract to end on 26 January 2024.

We are currently operating a hybrid working model of at least two days in our office in New Cross, London (one of which is a fixed core day when the rest of the team is in). Other days are working from home. However, people can work more days in the office if they prefer. This is subject to change, but there are currently no plans to change it.

The role will involve working some days and evenings on events such as graduation. This may include weekends.

Applying and selection

Please ensure you complete the application's essential and desirable requirement sections by explaining how you meet the requirements in person specifications within the Job Description.

The selection for this role will be based on how applicants match the person specification and their answer to the additional question social media posts you’ve produced.
