Main Purpose of Position

To Install and maintain AV equipment in various sites, Corporate Establishments, Education, Museums, Visitor Centres, Retail Stores and Places of Worship, primarily in NI, ROI, IOM and GB but also with potential for sites across Europe. Competitive Salary dependant on experience.

This position may suit a fire/secuity field engineer

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • One hundred percent focus on and adherence to the company policy on health and safety
  • Perform installation work for AV Systems within the budgeted number of hours and to the required quality levels
  • Low re-work rate and all work carried out to a high quality calibre
  • Installation of AV projects to completion, and managing of sites as necessary
  • Setup and testing of AV systems off site prior to installation
  • Both onsite and offsite rack build complete with bench testing
  • Fault find/diagnose faults onsite with the aim to rectify
  • Liaise with Project Engineer and Project Manager on Project technical aspects, and an ability to liaise with the client or main contractor as necessary
  • Flexible approach to project changes on site – escalating changes and variations to the Project Manager
  • Provide updates to project team on installation progress and any serious issues related to onsite activity
  • Assist in the project commissioning as necessary
  • Supervision and support of junior members of staff in Installation techniques and best practices
  • Supervision and quality checks of subcontractor works on site and the ability to have this rectified if found to be substandard
  • Assist the Project Manager in managing change and variation in the project
  • To ensure mandatory compliance with information security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Complete project documentation as required
  • Attend both online and onsite training as required

Key Skills required by the post holder

  • Strong ability to work alone and on own initiative
  • Be a good team member with a “can do” attitude
  • Ability to carry out installation activities on time, on spec, and to keep to the budgeted number of hours for each job
  • Be organised, flexible and able to approach different types of tasks during the working day
  • Very good communication skills
  • To have a good understanding of 1st and 2nd fix AV installations
  • Have excellent soldering, crimp and terminating skills
  • Ability to work from instructions from Project Engineers and Project Managers, but also to think laterally and suggest engineering solutions on site
  • To be able to work from schematics, terminating sheets, site plans and projector drawings
  • Have strong mechanical skills
  • The ideal applicant will be flexible and able to adapt to various situations put to them
  • The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s experience of production and wiring methods and carried out previous installation work in the electrical / AV industry
  • The ideal candidate will have a background from AV, electrical or electronic industries
  • Be willing and able to work both in NI, ROI and on customer sites in UK and Europe
  • A full driving licence is essential

Hours: Hours of work are 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday. A flexible approach to working hours is required to ensure installations are completed on time and to company standards. Weekends may be required periodically but advanced notice will be provided.

Overtime: Additional hours are paid at the normal rate unless agreed in advance.
