Position Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a (Backshift) Forklift Truck (FLT) Driver to join the Cased Goods Warehouse on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Export Despatch Team Lead, the FLT Driver will be responsible for the safe unloading/loading, transportation, and storage of cased goods/ materials at GWR. This will include loading/unloading of containers, as well as the safe use of racking (including gravity racking).
Job Description
- Ability to operate all forms of forklift truck used within department i.e. counter-balance & reach-truck and related attachments
- Use the RDT (Radio Data Terminal) and scanners to receive and confirm work activity and stock movements
- Identify required load configuration to achieve safe loads
- Liaise with Team Leaders in all instances where product is received and deemed to be ‘non-conforming’ in terms of handling storage and loading
- Perform forklift tasks to satisfy housekeeping standards and warehouse capacity
- Carry out all duties with proper regard for Health and Safety (H&S), Customs & Excise (C&E) regulations and Known Consignor (K.C.) scheme
- Perform routine checks for maintenance of forklift trucks, ensuring that daily checklist sheet is completed prior to use
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, applications will be accepted from drivers with proven forklift truck driving experience, and who hold a current forklift truck licence. You will be self-disciplined and self-motivated; with the ability to work and communicate well with a variety of people. Attention to detail is paramount, as is initiative, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards teamwork. SAP transaction experience is desirable.
