Haematology Band 5/6 depending on Qualifications and Experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to work in a busy but friendly laboratory at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team and work across a range of sections where you will receive thorough training and gain experience in a wide range of techniques. The ideal candidate will possess an accredited BSc (Hons) degree in Biomedical Sciences and will have completed a Specialist Portfolio in Haematology (or have equivalent qualification/experience) or be completed the Registration portfolio ( Band 5)

The post holder will work within the state of the art Blood Sciences department. In Haematology we currently process around 500,000 FBCs a year and have 4,000 active warfarin patients. We transfuse around 12,000 units of red cells per year.

The department is fully computerised utilising ISS Modulab and QPulse systems on both laboratory sites.

The department is approved by the IBMS for pre- and post-registration training and is ISO 15189 accredited.

You will be required to adopt flexible working patterns and may be required to work on either of the two laboratory sites. Once fully competent you will be expected to participate in round the clock provision of the laboratory services on an average 37.5 hour week if full time - part time hours available

The Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals is currently one of five Trusts involved in the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Transformation Programme. The aim is to design a Pathology Service that provides all SYB patients and clinicians with equitable access to high-quality, innovative laboratory medicine solutions that will ensure the best clinical outcomes for patients. The service will also be efficient and sustainable, encourage research and development in collaboration with Academia and Industry to improve health and innovation in the region and provide rewarding jobs and career opportunities for all staff.
