We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual with an understanding of dog welfare to lead and motivate our team of staff in our Rehoming Centre in Newbury, Berkshire.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.

Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they can find a loving new home and the success of our centres wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.

Responsible for all aspects of the centre, including state of the art rehabilitation, training and veterinary facilities, the Rehoming Centre Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient daily management of the Centre, ensuring excellent standards of dog welfare and customer service whilst ensuring it operates within Dogs Trust's codes of practice and Health and Safety guidelines. The Manager will lead, develop and manage a dedicated team of staff to care for and find suitable homes for dogs, working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a people person and a dog person, which means significant experience of managing and supervising large teams combined with a passion for animal welfare. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential, meaning you will have the ability to handle challenging situations sensitively, while always putting our dogs and customers at the heart of everything you do. You will be a team player who is professional and sympathetic, and able to find innovative solutions to problems. You'll also have experience of managing a budget and controlling expenditure within agreed budgetary limits, as this will be a key part of the role. We welcome applications from candidates who might not have experience in animal welfare, but have the transferable skills in operations relevant to this role and a passion for the work we do at Dogs Trust.

The panel will be reviewing applications for this role as they are submitted, therefore early applications are advised. First stage interviews are provisionally scheduled for Monday 24th April 2023 on Teams, with second stage interviews scheduled for Thursday 27th April 2023 at the Rehoming Centre in Newbury.
