Band 7 to 8a developmental role - 18 months as band 7 and then formal review to progress to band 8a.

It is an exciting time to join our inpatient service psychology team in Cornwall. A recent significant investment in psychology provision and a commitment to clinical quality and excellence has led to the creation of new psychology posts including a new leadership structure across the county.

We are looking for a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical/Forensic/Counselling) to work within ouracute inpatientmental health services to not only support the clinical needs of our service users but also to support wider strategic developments of the service and staff teams.

The successful candidates will work within a multi-disciplinaryward team, as a key clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team. As a ward psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans, facilitate group and individual psychological interventions, and provide case consultations and reflective sessions for staff as well as teaching, training and supervision. We aim to roll out a tested a model for Acute Inpatient psychology provision, based on the TUILPs RCT where we recently worked in conjunction with Manchester University.

Your expertise, training and experience will be valued, together with a commitment to supporting your career development and progression, with ongoing learning opportunities.

to our commitment to your professional growth, we are developing a career progression model in which our 8a psychology staff rotate between differing inpatient environments every two years. Following a full rotation, further career pathways and opportunities, such as the Mental Health Act Approved / Responsible Clinician training pathway become available. This provides a framework through which we can meaningfully reward our talented psychology team, should they want to progress within the profession whilst maintaining a clinical leadership role. As a department we are also keen to support clinical associate psychologists, assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists and psychology interns.

The Trust has a clear management and supervision structure that is led by a Head of Psychological Professions, who is also part of the Trust’s Senior Management Team. Inpatient services are supported by a lead Consultant Psychologist as well as a Consultant Psychologist working as an Approved/Responsible Clinician. Clinical Psychologists are currently employed in the Low Secure Unit (Bowman), the Rehabilitation Unit (Fettle) and Acute mental Health (Perran) .

There will be additional investment in psychology services in the next few years via the Transformation of Community Mental Health services, which will bring further opportunities for career development within the Trust.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
