Job Introduction

Colas UK is looking to recruit a new Graduate role as to continue its growth within the highways infrastructure realm, across the complementary functions of Marketing, Innovation and Strategy in the local and strategic highways sector in UK.

The international Colas group has a worldwide innovation network, coupled with our substantial R&D facility in Paris, which has produced a number of in-house and open decarbonised solutions. The person we are looking for to fill this role will be an advocate for these initiatives and work with clients and internal teams to emphasise the Colas offer of thought leadership, social value and solutions, in support of Government and Local Authority drive towards Net Zero.

Main Responsibilities

This new role has been created to support the functions of Innovation, Client engagement and Marketing. The role is a good opportunity to gain exposure across the Colas business, in the UK and wider, actively supporting client and internal engagement . The role will report to the Client Director but operate across the three newly-create ‘value streams’ of the UK business, giving a variety of activity and being part of a dynamic, creative and supportive team. You will be working with the existing small team on events, media releases, sponsorships to communicate the Colas message. You will be working to promote and explore decarbonisation, ‘connected infrastructure’ solutions and themes such as social value and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). You will be tracking existing client activity and understanding market dynamics, this role will find and communicate useful intelligence on market activity to support Colas client-facing activity

The Ideal Candidate

The person we are looking for will be flexible and adaptable with a ‘can-do’ attitude. You will have a First degree in a relevant subject with a strong academic background. You will have an interest in new developments related to the environment, innovation and initiatives such as social value, with excellent levels of spoken and written English and experience in preparing reports. You will be positive disposition with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting and productive relationships , whilst being well-organised, with strong process and project management skills and an ability to establish and work to priorities. Flexible to change and adapt to challenging timescales. You will be self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Be a ‘do-er’ and be willing to ‘roll up your sleeves’ to get the work done .
