Charge Nurse

We are looking for a Charge Nurse to join the sexual health and HIV team in St Stephen's Centre (John Hunter Clinic and Kobler HIV OPD )

You will also have strong clinical skills and knowledge and be committed to your on-going professional development and that of the service.

This post will suit those having had some previous management at band 6 level or above wishing to broaden their skills and knowledge . The post holder will provide leadership to the nursing team and within the service and deputise for the clinic manager when required.

Responsibility for the management and of the delivery of clinical services within the HIV/GUM . Directorate, including all low level complaints (PALS, concerns etc.), HR management (recruitment, sickness, annual leave, performance, PDR etc.) and the resolution of incident forms and local governance issues.

You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality clinical services within the context of a clinical governance framework. To provide professional leadership to all nonmedical staff within HIV/GUM services working in close collaboration and co-operation with
members of the multi-professional team.

You will ensure that all activities in the area are carried out within the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust policy and guidelines and within the philosophy of the HIV and Sexual Health Directorate.

You will work in partnership with the Clinic Manager and Lead Clinician to manage and develop
the operational and strategic issues within HIV/GUM service.

• To act as a role model giving expert practice, promoting advanced nursing practice and developing the clinical guidance to ensure that high standards of care are given to all patients.
• To manage a caseload of patients for complex and follow-up care in Sexual Health or HIV, in collaboration with the Consultant, and support the nurses, HCAs and HAs in this role
• To act as a non-medical prescriber and/or supply and administer medicines under the Patient Group Directions
• Contribute to evidence based practice and research projects within the clinical areas and ensure that written standards for clinical care are formulated, utilised and reviewed as necessary
• Collaborate with the Lead Nurses for Sexual Health and HIV appropriately for professional support and guidance
• To develop in collaboration with the Lead Nurses for Sexual Health and HIV guidelines, competencies and protocols relevant to Sexual Health and HIV care
• Ensure that patient documentation is maintained to a high standard
