About the job


An exciting opportunity has become available within the Youth Service for an assistant youth support worker. This post is based within Powerhouse Youth Centre.

You will be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team who are working with young people within the locality. The aim of your role will be to support the youth support worker to deliver high quality projects and programmes for young people between the ages of 10-19.

The aim of your role will be to deliver high quality projects and programmes for young people between the ages of 10-19 and take a lead in planning and development of youth provision.

Experience of working with young people is essential for this role. A focus on strength based practice that is young person centred is also a fundamental requirement. The team are committed to a brief solution focused therapy approach and this is reflected in planning, delivery, evaluation as well as the supervision and support model.


What We Are Looking For From You


Qualified or working towards a recognised youth work qualification at level 3 or above

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic youth workers who will encourage creativity and innovation to inspire and motivate young people through direct open access youth work.

We are looking for youth workers who have positive attitudes and resilience to be able to impact positively on the lives of young people and encourage progression.

The successful candidates will either be qualified to at least youth support worker level 3 or are working towards or be prepared to undertake this training within an agreed time period.

We are looking for youth workers who have experience of assessing the needs of young people and respond appropriately through youth work activity, support and guidance.

We are looking for proactive individuals who have a clear interest in working to support young people to develop and flourish as individuals and contribute positively to their community.


Additional information


Salary: T00 15 (JNC: £29,603 per annum)

This post is part time and will work 9 hours per week. The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.
