Canterbury Christ Church University are looking for a highly motivated leader with experience of timetabling, including developing and applying processes and procedures.

The role manages the Timetabling and Attendance team in their day-to-day operations, as well as delivering on innovative approaches to timetabling and supporting our Student Engagement in Learning Strategy through efficient and accurate delivery of attendance data. This role also provides liaison with the teams supporting our software systems, both internal to the university and our suppliers.

In addition, the role will work with the Head of Timetabling and Attendance in developing strategic direction for Timetabling and Attendance.

The role holder will lead a team of timetabling and attendance staff; facilitating a solutions-focussed culture and commitment to continuous improvement. They will identify, direct, prioritise and pro-actively manage the pipeline of projects, systems developments and process improvements alongside Business-as-Usual activities to support the needs of the business e.g. working collaboratively with colleagues across the university to bring the publication of student timetables forward in the academic year to enhance the student experience, and define, document and continuously evaluate and improve processes relating to systems operations, integrations and the flow of data.

With direction from the Head of Timetabling and Attendance, a priority for the Timetabling and Attendance Manager will be to lead the delivery of the Smart Timetabling Project that will change how and when timetables are designed and delivered, using systematic timetable design to deliver the most appropriate timetables for the most students and staff, and make the best use of the University estate.

Another priority will be to lead an upgrade of the attendance monitoring system to enhance to the attendance interface to improve the attendance monitoring process and support compliance with student attendance monitoring regulatory requirements, and to support the University’s strategy and policies on monitoring student engagement and related learning.

The role holder will need to establish strong effective working relationships with members of the leadership team within Registry Services and a range of key stakeholders across the wider organisation such as the IT Infrastructure team and Faculty end users.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive manager with excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills, and with significant experience of timetabling, including developing and applying processes and procedures, and ideally also with experience of attendance monitoring, including developing and applying processes and procedures.

You will have experience of designing, developing and delivering training and conveying information in a meaningful way to technical and non-technical stakeholders and effectively responding to feedback to enhance end user experience.

You will also need demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills, be able to lead and motivate staff, and have a positive and proactive approach to change.
