About us
Brooks Carling Accountants Limited is a small accounting practice in Tattenham Corner between Epsom and Tadworth. Established since 1980 and offering a full range of accounting services to clients including accounting, bookkeeping, audit, payroll, company secretarial and taxation.
Our bookkeeping team serve our clients in a number of ways from data entry, software support, VAT returns, CIS, accounts review, and higher level management accounts. It comprises staff with a range of experience and background work together along with the support of qualified accountants on technical and tax matters.

About the candidate
The right candidate will have existing bookkeeping experience (though not necessarily have formal bookkeeping qualifications).
Ideally we are looking for
- knowledge and experience of Xero online bookkeeping software
- knowledge and experience of Sage 50 desktop
- understanding experience of applying the procedures for the construction industry programme (CIS)
- practice or bureau experience, or can otherwise demonstrate the ability to manage and be responsible multiple jobs and clients independently
- will have an understanding of the financial reporting process
- will be critical in preparing and completing financial reports for internal use, external consumption and regulatory purposes
- will be at the forefront of financial reporting and you should enjoy working with numbers and have a strong attention to detail
The right bookkeeper
- will be allocated a portfolio of clients spread over the reporting periods: monthly, quarterly, annually
- will often be the first point of contact for clients with accounting and bookkeeping queries
- will be supported by qualified accountants and know when to refer clients' queries that are beyond their expertise
- will understand that, while they will be a strong supporter and advocate for their clients, the answer to clients' requests in not always 'yes'
