Bradford Teaching Hospital NHS Trust Nurse Bank Team is keen to recruit highly motivated, reliable Healthcare Assistants, who are able to deliver high quality care.
  • During the Covid-19 pandemic you may be required to support our Covid-19 vaccination process, working in the Community Vaccination Hubs, based in Bradford.
  • We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 2 Health Care Assistants to work Bank shifts in Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • You will work within a team to promote and provide high quality care and have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • In order to apply for a post you must have a minimum of 6 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker in a hospital/Care home setting or vaccination hub (through employment) within the last 3 years.

General Healthcare Responsibilities
  • Assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of programmes of care under the direction of a registered nurse.
  • Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their relatives.
  • Contribute to the support of patients in transition from one care setting to another.
  • Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service. See section regarding Respect for Patient Confidentiality below.
  • Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care. Report areas of concern to qualified staff.
  • Assist individual patients with activities of daily living according to individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake.
  • Develop an understanding of individual patient needs in relation to dietary regimes and fluid intake.
  • Monitor and record fluid balance and dietary intake. Report areas of concern.
  • Enable/assist patients to minimise discomfort and pain according to the prescription of care.
  • Participate in clerical duties as required.
  • Support qualified staff by carrying out accurate record keeping, taking and relaying verbal and written messages promptly, respecting confidentiality.
  • Contribute to minimising the effect of disruptive, abusive behaviour and the protection of individuals from abuse, complying at all times for Health & Safety/Risk Management detailed below.
  • Contribute to the clinical governance agenda.
  • To undertake work involving specialist skills following satisfactory assessment of competence and under the direction of a trained nurse, i.e.
  • Patient escort to and return from X-Ray, Wards and Departments-
  • Patient escort to theatre
  • Observations, MEWS scoring, fluid balance, health measurement
  • Urinalysis
  • Collection of specimens
  • Any other clinical skills required subject to training and competency
Service Specific Responsibilities
  • Healthcare assistants must be open to understanding the needs of the specific clinical area where they are allocated to work and have the ability to adapt to a variety of clinical settings.
  • It is the responsibility of the Healthcare assistants to ensure they receive a local induction and familiarise themselves with procedures on the ward/department in a timely manner.
