Job Introduction

The Natural History Unit is looking for a Senior PC/Junior Production Manager to join the team in mid to end April with international filming experience to join a landmark third party production which is already well underway for delivery in July 2024.

The role will be initially for 7 months, you will be working very closely with the Producer of and have ownerships of an episode, managing the budget to ensure it stays within budget whilst delivering the editorial ambitions.

You will be part of the wider production team and be a key member of the Production Management team.

We anticipate interviews to be the week of 27th March.

Main Responsibilities
  • Managing an episode filming budgets, assessing financial viability of sequences and ensuring the timely setting up and scheduling of shoots
  • Ensure compliance with BBC systems and process’ and that contracting is adhered to
  • Work closely with and supporting the PM, and Producer ensuring resources and editorial aspirations are aligned.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and arranging complex contracts and location agreements
Are you the right candidate?
  • You will be a Junior Production Manager or a Senior Production Coordinator with experience of managing complex projects. Experience in Natural History would be preferable
  • You will be responsible for managing the series filming budget and playing a key part of assessing financial viability of sequences, forecasting and ensuring the timely scheduling of shoots
  • You will ensure compliance with BBC systems, making sure contracts are compliant with BBC process.
  • You can multitask and prioritise whilst working to tight deadlines
  • You will have strong business and finance skills.
  • You will be able to create, forecast and manage budgets.
  • Experience of using PMI would be an advantage but not essential
  • Proven track record of managing complex contracts.
  • Considerable experience of delivering a range of TV productions across a different output or genres, including natural history, on time and on budget.
  • Experience of planning and executing foreign filming
  • Experience of production processes with a level of understanding to enable the most efficient production of content.
  • You can proactively contribute new ideas for working more efficiently including sustainability across the production.
  • Proven negotiating skills to influence, manage and negotiate contracts within policies and guidelines.
  • The ability to work autonomously whilst knowing when to escalate.
  • Strong and confident communication skills
