We are looking to recruit a dynamic Programme Manager to join the education and workforce development team.

We welcome applications from experienced and dedicated Programme Managers, with proven experience of effective programme management in the as part of transformation, change management and translating strategy into action. Experience of working in the health and care sector would be highly valued.

This is a delivery-focused role and to be successful you will need to be highly organised, pay attention to detail and be able to manage competing priorities, using your own initiative to solve problems. You will need excellent communication skills, as you will be overseeing multidisciplinary project teams, distributed across the various team and sites.

The Programme Manager is a senior within the education and workforce development team and will lead a defined set of interdependent education projects and the associated workforce development interventions. Responsible for the successful delivery of the required outcomes, including governance and assurance, monitoring, risk management, the postholder will lead the programme management of all changes programmes and facilitate the uptake of initiatives that support and embed excellence within the Trust.

A critical requirement of this role is to lead and enable systematic appraisal of programme delivery alongside the development of an effective benefits realisation framework. The post holder will develop professional leadership of project management across all corporate nursing workforce development projects and programmes.

The Programme Manager will support regional education transformation plans, which includes Health Education England’s ‘Placement Expansion’ programme and the Trust’s very own Career Maps Programme.

The Programme Manager will provide constructive challenge to the Senior Responsible Officer and cross-functional organisational key stakeholders, to further develop programme governance and improve project delivery and will deputise for the Director of Education, Workforce Development and Research.

Under the leadership of our Chair, Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive we provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and this will be one of the many benefits of our closer collaboration with Barts Health. Working with them and with all our partners across north east London, we will find a sustainable solution to enhance patient care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
