Junior Java Developer

As a Barclays Junior Java Developer, you will be joining Fixed Income Financing team within Investment Banking technology area. In your role you will be instrumental in development and assistance of all iRepoTrading applications globally. The technology team works directly with repo traders, sales and other departments located worldwide, with the main centried in US, EU and APAC. Systems supported are a combination of in-house development and third-party packages, using a variety of technologies.

Hybrid Working
We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances

• Taking ownership of the deliverables of each iteration, ensuring the scope of the project/deliverables is well understood
- Effectively visualising and designing complex systems
- Developing and assisting the trade capture platform for Repo Trading Platform
- Investigating and troubleshooting of production issues
- Improving processes and software in a continuous feedback cycle
- Communicating with the global team for design and development of trading platform
- Managing various business deliverables while maintaining high standards of quality
- Resolving issues during development and support
• Solid experience on core Java Developer
- Solid skills in Object Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts, Java, Relational Databases
- Exposure of Core Java, Restful services, Spring, Unix, Solace, Database
- Experience of middleware platforms (Solace, IBM MQ)
• Solid experience developing high-performance software
- Exposure within Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery and System integration
- Solid experience with Docker/Kubernetes and development of containerized applications
- Exposure to financial markets
